DOCUMENT:Q106742 08-DEC-1993 [W_NT] TITLE :External Monitor on Toshiba 4400sx Monochrome Doesn't Work PRODUCT :Windows NT PROD/VER:3.10 OPER/SYS:WINDOWS KEYWORDS:BUGLIST3.10 FIXLIST3.10.003 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1 - Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== You cannot get the video to work correctly under Windows NT on a Toshiba 4400sx monochrome computer with an external monitor. This is caused by the Western Digital (WD) video driver. The WD driver expects the WD chip set on the 4400sx to be standard when in fact it is a slightly modified version designed specially for the Toshiba monochrome computer. The WD driver does not use the proper unlocking code and is not able to write anything to the video adapter. STATUS ====== Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
